Student Achievements

Throughout the year, Karate tournaments are held across Australia and around the world.
We encourage our students to take part in local competitions, beginning with the Kata division to gain experience and confidence. Those who wish to challenge themselves further can also compete in Kumite.

The main competitions in our area include:

  • The Budo Challenge

  • AMAC

  • ISKA

  • National All Stars

This page is dedicated to celebrating our students who step onto the competition floor — and a special congratulations goes to those who return with medals and trophies for their hard work and spirit.

Wayne, our most senior student in age but one of the youngest in spirit, is the embodiment of dedication, resilience, and humility. His unwavering commitment to training and his generous support of others make him a treasured part of our dojo family.

Always leading by example, Wayne can be found guiding and encouraging our Tiny Tigers during their sessions — patiently supporting the next generation of martial artists — before stepping onto the mat himself to train with the adult class. His presence radiates quiet leadership and steadfast perseverance, inspiring students of all ages.

In addition to his training, Wayne also serves as our first-aid responder, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of everyone on the floor — a role he takes on with great care and responsibility.

Over the past two years, Wayne has actively competed in numerous tournaments, consistently bringing home multiple medals and proudly representing our dojo. Just this year alone Wayne has competed in 8 Tournaments, bringing home medals from 7 while also qualifying for Nationals in 2 different organisations.

His dedication reached international heights when he qualified for and competed at the prestigious U.S. Open ISKA World Martial Arts Championships in Orlando, where he achieved an outstanding 4th place finish among some of the world’s best.

Wayne's journey proves that age is no barrier when it comes to chasing goals, living with purpose, and being part of something bigger. We’re incredibly proud of everything he continues to achieve — on and off the mat.

William

At the age of 8 William started his Karate journey. Over the 3 years William (11) has shown unwavering commitment, discipline, and a passion for the art.

After nearly three years of consistent training, he has proudly earned his brown belt — a significant milestone that reflects not only his technical growth but also his mental strength and perseverance.

Adding to his achievements, William recently took home his first competition medal, showcasing his ability to rise to new challenges and perform under pressure.

Starting out in the Tiny Tigers program, William has steadily progressed into the general class, proving that hard work, focus, and a love for learning can lead to great success. He is a shining example of what young martial artists can accomplish with the right attitude and determination.

Ash

Since beginning his training in Okinawan Goju-ryu karate in late 2022, Ash has shown incredible commitment — both as a student and as a supporter of the dojo community.

Following in the footsteps of his son William, Ash stepped onto the tournament floor for the very first time this year, competing with courage and spirit in his debut karate competition. A true example of leading by example!

But Ash’s contribution doesn’t stop at training — he also plays a vital role behind the scenes. With a sharp eye for detail and a passion for improving the student experience, Ash has completely revamped the dojo’s website, giving it a fresh, modern look.

He has also designed comprehensive training booklets to support students on their martial arts journey.

Ash’s dedication both on the mat and behind the scenes makes him a valued part of the dojo family. We're lucky to have him in the dojo and in the community.

Kellie and Aiden

Aiden began his karate journey in 2022 and has consistently impressed with his laser-sharp focus and eagerness to learn. Every time he steps onto the mat, he brings a quiet determination and strong spirit that inspires those around him. That dedication paid off in a big way at the 2025 AMAC Tournament, where Aiden proudly took home the Gold Trophy in his division — a well-earned reward for his hard work and passion for the art.

But the story doesn’t end there...

Kellie, Aiden’s mum, has been a familiar face at the dojo since day one — quietly supporting from the sidelines as she watched her son grow from a white belt in the Tiny Tigers class to a purple belt in the general class.

Earlier this year, she decided to take her involvement one step further and stepped onto the mat herself — joining Aiden in training and embracing the challenge head-on.

At the 2025 AMAC Tournament in Hervey Bay, Kellie delivered a stunning kata performance that captured the attention of Judges — and just like her son, she brought home a Gold Trophy.

Together, Aiden and Kellie are a powerful example of what’s possible when family, discipline, and dedication come together. We’re so proud to have them both as part of our dojo family!
